Lisbon has a wide range of winter attractions
Around this time of year, many travel insurance holders will be thinking about where they can head to enjoy some winter sun.
As the cold winter weather starts to engulf the UK, a lot of people find their minds considering whether they should jet off for a short break to get away from it all.
Destinations such as the Cape Verde islands offer an ideal place to soak up some rays at this time of year, but, with Christmas fast approaching, individuals may instead want to head somewhere a little closer to home.
In the opinion of Miguel Gonzago, visitors bureau brand manager at Turismo de Lisboa, Lisbon offers a little something of everything for holidaymakers at this time of year.
Mr Gonzago explained that the Portuguese capital gives visitors the chance to take in a wide range of seasonal events, great weather and a special atmosphere.
The official went on to state that the recent economic troubles encountered by the country have not had an adverse impact on the tourism industry on the nation as a whole and the capital city.
Indeed, he stated that Lisbon has in fact experienced a growth of nine per cent in tourist numbers this year.
And, for those people considering a trip there in the near future, Mr Gonzago noted they could be in for a treat thanks to the Christmas markets popping up over the metropolis in December.
"One thing Lisbon offers over the winter season is a minimum temperature average of 12 degrees and maximum temperatures of up to around 25 degrees, which is not very common in other destinations," he concluded.
