Holidays in Cambodia and Laos are becoming increasingly popular.
Tourists looking to go somewhere different could be tempted to book holidays to destinations such as Laos and Cambodia - as both countries are becoming increasingly popular.
A spokeswoman for ABTA - The Travel Association stated that the two nations are among those to have experienced a major spike in demand among visitors over the course of the last few months.
But she explained that Africa has seen arguably the biggest growth in the number of people looking to book holidays to the destination.
The official noted that Malawi, Namibia and lots of the southern African countries appear to be popular locations for individuals booking breaks abroad at the moment.
She also pointed out that there has been a peak in the demand for South Africa holidays - which is perhaps because of the success of the 2010 FIFA World Cup that was held in the country.
Zambia and Botswana - the latter of which was the subject of a special edition of the BBC television motoring show Top Gear - were among the other African countries to have been picked out by the ABTA spokeswoman.
Heather Carswell, a spokeswoman at Lonely Planet, recently recommended Cambodia's outdoor pursuits for holidaymakers with thrill-seeking tendencies.
She explained that a lot of the visitors to the country do not go and explore the nation's jungles, which has led to them being unspoilt for those who do choose to head off the beaten track.
"There are areas ... where travellers rarely go, which may well see the halo effect of an increase in tourist numbers," Ms Carswell added, noting that Laos and Vietnam are among the Asian areas set to benefit.
