A pair of major sporting events is set to attract people to book holidays in Korea.
Holidays in Korea are likely to be popular among sports fans this year as the country is hosting a pair of major events in 2011.
It will be holding the second ever Korean Grand Prix in the south-west region of the Asian nation, while Daegu has been chosen as the location for the World Athletics Championships in August.
Ramy Salameh, PR manager at the Korea Tourism Organisation, stated that the part of the country that is hosting the Formula One race is perhaps not as well-known among holidaymakers.
But despite this, he said it is "just as beautiful", which could encourage tourists heading to the nation to check out the area.
"From the perspective of hosting major events Korea is excelling so expect to hear plenty more in the world's media," commented Mr Salameh.
He pointed out that later this summer, the city of Pyeongchang is set to find out whether or not it has been selected as the host of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The expert added that in 2013, a new Taekwondo Park will open in Muju, allowing Korea to host the World Taekwondo Championships.
He also noted this is likely to see the popularity of Korea as a holiday destination for fans of martial arts increase.
Mr Salameh was commenting shortly after the release of figures from the Korea Tourism Organisation showed that there has been a rise in the number of people heading to the Asian nation for breaks from the UK.
Visitor arrivals were found to have grown by six per cent over the course of 2010.
