June is the "window of opportunity" for heading to the Med
There are many reasons why the Mediterranean is best in June and travellers should take their "window of opportunity", Sophie Butler stated, writing for the Telegraph.
"June is a time of year the travel industry calls the shoulder season," she explained, adding that there are significant savings to be made by travelling early in the season.
According to Ms Butler, there is more last-minute availability on hotels and villas and flights are still cheaper than in a month's time in July.
Travel insurance customers will benefit from emptier tourist attractions and fewer crowds at the popular sights as well as having a better chance of getting good service from hotels and restaurants, she added.
Good weather should not be a problem and holiday extras such as car hire could also be cheaper in June than in July, she continued.
Research by Axa in May found that the average claim made by a travel insurance customer on holiday in Spain amounted to £650.
The average travel insurance claim for all countries stands at £744, the figures also revealed.
