Newlyweds are often after the "trip of a lifetime" and Japan could be the perfect setting for their first romantic getaway as husband and wife, according to a tourism director.
Newlyweds who are looking to take the "trip of a lifetime" on their honeymoon would do well to consider Japan, according to the country's tourism organisation.
Koichiro Yoshida, executive director of the Japan National Tourism Organisation, commented that the country's "dynamic blend of old and new" is appealing to those on a honeymoon, as well as people who plan to get married while travelling in the country.
Destinations such as Tokyo - which boasts "fantastic hotels", shopping and nightlife - and old-world romantic city Kyoto are both popular among holidaymakers, Mr Yoshida noted.
He added that Kyoto in particular is a picturesque place to have wedding photos taken and arrangements can be made for the couple to wear traditional Japanese marriage garments for the snaps.
The Foreign & Commonwealth office advises anyone travelling to Japan to take out a comprehensive
travel insurance policy before they set off on their holiday.
