Italy, Spain and Portugal 'are great value for a last-minute break'
Italy, Spain and Portugal have been named as bargain destinations of the week by a flight comparison site, which may interest travel insurance customers looking for a good-value break.
The Italian city of Trieste was named as a cheap destination of the moment and with borders close to Slovenia and Croatia, there is ample opportunity for a day trip, said travel editor of the site, Sam Baldwin.
Always popular with British holidaymakers, Palma was the second selected destination and is only a two-hour flight from the UK.
Finally, Stockholm with its beaches and cool clean water was named as a great cheap place for a summer city break.
"Stockholm is a pleasantly warm, but not too hot city to spend a long weekend or more," explained Mr Baldwin.
Last year, some 14 per cent of UK holidaymakers did not take out a travel insurance policy before heading off on their travels and racked up costs of £90 million that could have been claimed for, according to InsureandGo.
