Skiers must make sure their eyes are protected.
Many people are likely to be taking out ski insurance to protect themselves as they head away to the slopes this winter.
But it is also important to ensure individuals have the correct equipment for this type of break, explains Liz Segre, editorial director at AllAboutVision.com - which was launched in 2000.
She says people should pay particular attention to the goggles that will protect their eyes during their ski break.
Looking closely at the lens tint is important, as there are different options for various scenarios.
"Some tints, such as amber, work well on both low-light days and bright days. They deepen the contrast between shadows and highlights in the snow, so you can better judge where the bumps are and steer yourself accordingly," Ms Segre claims.
Then there are polarised versions that are darker and tend to suit the days when there is a great deal of glare from the sun and the light is brighter.
Such products should ensure eyes remain comfortable, while rose tints will be best suited to grey conditions.
Purchasing a variety of lenses to allow for these different conditions is one option, although Ms Segre says it is also possible to find products that will allow for interchangeable lenses.
This would mean those hitting the slopes for full days can amend their eye protection as the sun comes out.
Finally, Ms Segre advises concentrating on getting the right fit, particularly if the goggles will be worn with a helmet, as they will need to be big enough to stretch over the accessory.
