Four in ten Britons who have been skiing or snowboarding holiday have suffered an injury on the slopes, according to a new poll.
A new survey has revealed that 41 per cent of holidaymakers who have been on a skiing or snowboarding trip have suffered an injury while out on the slopes.
The poll by Holiday Extras found that 31 per cent had received bumps, cuts and bruises, while six per cent had broken a bone and four per cent had had a more serious injury.
Holiday Extras said the survey highlights the importance of taking out
winter sports insurance for such breaks.
"There is an increased risk of injury on this type of holiday. Even if you are a safe, experienced skier or snowboarder, you never know what might happen," the company's Andrea Clayton commented.
According to the Ski Club of Great Britain,
travel insurance can be particularly important on active breaks as undergoing medical treatment while abroad can be a long and expensive process - especially if a helicopter needs to be involved.
