Iceland can offer numerous adrenaline-fuelled adventures and beautiful sights.
Travel insurance policyholders searching for a break that brings them good value for money should consider Iceland.
According to Brynhildur Sverrisdottir, manager and owner of All Iceland, there is a great deal to see in the country without spending too much money.
She claims many people have started to realise these benefits, as there has been a huge increase in tourism to the nation.
Booking figures at lowcost airline Iceland Express for June, July and August this year found rates matched 2007 figures.
"It's cheaper to go there – because of the economic crisis, the currency has devalued.
"Iceland has received a lot of publicity because of the volcano and ash cloud, so that has helped a lot," Ms Sverrisdottir states.
Experiencing the Northern Lights is likely to be a draw for a number of visitors and this can be done by heading to the highlands and staying in a remote cottage or hut, alongside the snow and sky.
Snowmobile tours are on offer at any time of year and adrenaline junkies may like to go snorkelling between the American and European tectonic plates.
Other activities include snowkiting - where participants ski but have a parachute attached to them - as well as caving.
"It's amazing and people are coming to live there because they can't get it anywhere else," Ms Sverrisdottir continues.
A huge bonus for Britons is that it only takes two-and-a-half hours to get to Iceland, where in just three days tourists can experience glaciers, volcanoes and lava.
