Iceland could be the ideal holiday destination for Britons, it has been suggested.
Britons looking for a holiday with a difference may do well to head to Iceland.
According to Sigga Groa Thorarinsdottir of the Icelandic Tourist Board, the country is easily accessible from the UK.
It also offers city and rural holiday opportunities in abundance, particularly in locations such as the capital Reykjavik and areas in northern Iceland.
She remarked: "We see plenty of people visiting to combine our vibrant cultural scene with day trips out into the nature to see waterfalls, boiling hot springs and glaciers."
Ms Thorarinsdottir predicted that Iceland will be a popular destination in 2010, particularly after being voted as a top value-for-money location by Lonely Planet.
Those looking to explore Iceland's rugged terrain and take part in active pursuits might want to take out
travel insurance for peace of mind.
A recent poll by Travelzoo suggested that 55 per cent of Britons intend to travel more in 2010.
