There are ways and means of reducing the cost of a luxury break abroad, according to the Times.
Britons looking to treat themselves on a luxury holiday for as cheap as possible might want try haggling with tour operators, it has been suggested.
According to Chris Haslam of the Times, knowing how to negotiate could result in a significant discount on holiday packages.
Travellers should conduct research to find out the market price of the holiday they want and know exactly how much they are willing to pay before picking up the phone, he recommended.
It is also possible to haggle for a cheaper luxury break by asking for things such as spa vouchers, free room upgrades and other extras, he said.
One tour operator explained: "We accept that customers are trying to get a deal and if they say they really want to book with us, but they need something off the bottom line, then we'll do it."
Searching for low-cost
holiday insurance may also be useful in reducing travel costs.
Last year, travel firm Kuoni advised cash-strapped Brits to save money on their holidays by opting for all-inclusive deals and looking at destinations in Africa and the Middle East to get extra value for money.
