The city can be both relaxing and exciting, according to one expert.
Travellers hoping to enjoy a relaxing break that also boasts plenty to keep visitors occupied during 2011 might take one expert's advice and go to Hong Kong.
Dawn Page, director of the UK and northern Europe office for the Hong Kong Tourism Board, explained how the region boasts green spaces that are perfect for a relaxing walk, as well as attractions such as the harbour for those who enjoy a spectacle.
"Hong Kong is a city of contrasts. I always tell people to get up early [to] stroll through Victoria Park and watch people starting their day with a Tai Chi session," she explained.
In comparison to the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city, such an activity might be the ideal way for visitors to relax and unwind, before heading out on a sightseeing trip of the area.
The harbour is a must-see, according to Ms Page, as the attraction is home to the Symphony of Lights multimedia show that takes place each evening from 20:00 local time. A spot on the Star Ferry is the ideal place to watch the spectacle, but passengers should "sit downstairs to get the true experience".
Travel insurance customers embarking on a trip to Hong Kong could do well to book their accommodation sooner rather than later, as research from STR Global has revealed hotel occupancy in the Asia-Pacific region has risen to 66 per cent in the last year, which marks an increase of 8.9 per cent during the 12-month period.
