Holidays 'are important to perform better at work'
Workers are being urged to make sure they take a break this summer as a study has shown it can lead to increased productivity.
A survey carried out by Expedia.co.uk revealed 40 per cent of people were not taking their full holiday entitlement.
"Holidays are very important for a happy and productive workplace. Simply taking even just a few days away from the office will enable you to be more productive when you get back to work," said head of product marketing at the firm Jonathan Cudworth.
Some 22 per cent of people polled said they had been forced to cancel travel breaks due to job commitments and 23 per cent of office workers confessed to checking work emails and contacting colleagues whilst on a break.
On the Beach reported in April that 43 per cent of people would be heading to a traditional European destination for their summer holiday but 36 per cent said they would be downgrading the quality of their hotel to cut back.
