A bank has urged travellers to make sure they have holiday insurance for their bank holiday jaunts.
With the bank holiday weekend almost upon us, Brits are being urged to ensure they take out a
travel insurance policy.
According to research from Lloyds TSB, 10 per cent of travellers admitted to jetting off without
holiday insurance, with 54 per cent of those saying that they just did not think they needed a policy.
"Sometimes our holidays aren't as relaxing as we hope they will be and it's then that a decision not to take out travel cover could come back to haunt us," said Catherine McGrath, head of current accounts at the organisation.
Ms McGrath went on to say that it is not only those who are planning on heading overseas who require cover, but the ever-popular staycation should also be protected.
The company added that 12 per cent of people who have travelled abroad have needed medical treatment and one in ten has lost their luggage.
Insureandgo noted earlier in the year, that collectively, Brits shelled out some £90 million in costs in 2008 that could have been covered by a travel insurance policy - 236,000 incidents.
