Visitors to Poland should consider the country's less well-known areas to get a real taste of its culture, a tourism executive has said.
Despite the cultural and architectural delights of Warsaw and Krakow being obvious attractions for tourists, an industry expert has insisted that Poland has much more to offer than excellent value-for-money weekend city breaks.
According to Agnieszka Bigaj, marketing and tourism information executive at the Polish National Tourist Office, holidaymakers seeking a true taste of the Polish lifestyle should instead head to the country's less well-known destinations.
Research published by Tesco Travel Money on June 29th concluded that travellers looking for a cheap holiday this
summer would be wise to go further afield than traditional hotspots like Spain and Greece by visiting nations such as Poland instead.
The study stated that a week in Warsaw for a family of four would cost a little over £1,300 - almost half the figure the same family would be forced to outlay on a seven-night vacation in Brighton.
However, in order to sample Poland at its most authentic, Ms Bigaj suggested that people should seek to experience its history, culture and tradition in areas such as the Podhale region in the Tatra mountains.
Also recommended are Koniakow and Istebna in Beskid Slaksi and the Jasna Gora Monastery in Czestochowa, which features the sacred painting of Black Madonna.
In places such as these, Ms Bigaj said visitors can totally immerse themselves in Polish history, culture and traditions.
Meanwhile, even though there are ongoing financial concerns in Britain following the global economic downturn, the latest annual Holiday Lettings Travel Survey - which was published last month - found that out of 9,500 respondents, 65 per cent would be prioritising a holiday over other means of disposable expenditure this year.
Anyone considering a trip to Poland should take out
travel insurance before leaving the UK.
