Long-haul destinations such as Turkey could represent good value for money for Brits.
Holidaymakers seeking a bargain are increasingly looking to long-haul destinations in order to get the most value for their money, according to the editor of a travel publication.
Sharron Livingston of thetravelmagazine.net, commented that in the wake of the recession, many hotels are prepared to offer bargains to holidaymakers.
While cruises are among the areas currently offering the most value for money - with providers offering perks such as excursions, onboard credits and flights at a discount or free of charge - she suggested a number of destinations on land that also represent good deals for British holidaymakers.
Thailand, Iceland and Turkey were all highlighted as areas offering good value and Ms Livingston suggested that holidaymakers plan as far ahead as possible to ensure they get the best price possible.
"Prices start lower and as capacity fills the prices rise, so it's always best to book well in advance," she said.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office advises holidaymakers travelling to Turkey to purchase a comprehensive
travel insurance policy before they set off.
British nationals will also need to obtain a multiple entry visitor's visa for the country at the point of entry - this can be purchased for £10.
