'Hire your holiday clothes' in Australia
Travel insurance holders who dislike carrying luggage around the airport when they travel may wish to consider taking a holiday in Australia next year, thanks to a new idea.
Catharine MacIntosh hopes to launch her business Zero Baggage in Australia in 2010, where travellers can hire their holiday clothes instead of having to take them with them.
Holidaymakers can book the clothes they want to hire online so that they are waiting for them at their hotel once they arrive.
Ms MacIntosh hoped that it would save people time at the airport as they would not have to stand in line to check-in or wait for their bags.
"When you think about removing almost half the weight from a plane when you get rid of passenger luggage, it's quite a sustainable action in terms of energy," she added.
The Post Office revealed on August 1st that the average value of items in a suitcase came to £1,133.
A travel insurance policy can cover passengers against loss or theft of their possessions.
