Birmingham's NEC will play host to a number of events over the coming weeks.
Travel insurance policyholders driving around the country over the coming days would be wise to leave extra time for their journeys.
The Highways Agency announced routes could be busy between today (November 23rd) and November 27th close to Birmingham, because the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) is staging the BBC Good Food Show and Motorcycle Live.
Both events could prove popular among Britons who are currently enjoying a break from work and want to experience something different without jetting off abroad.
Emergency planning officer for the agency in the West Midlands Frank Bird says: "Motorists using the roads in the vicinity of the NEC ... can help us to help them by planning their journey in advance and leaving extra time, as the roads on the approach to the NEC are likely to be busy."
The body is planning to use electronic message signs across approaching motorways in order to inform drivers about any incidents or diversions, as well as delays.
Local radio stations will broadcast information and smartphone applications are also due to feature updates.
Patrols are being carried out by traffic officers to remove any incidents as soon as possible, which should make journeys run more smoothly.
A whole host of activities are lined up for the Good Food Show, with celebrity chefs such as James Martin and Phil Vickery in attendance.
Sessions are also being held by the stars of the BBC series the Great British Bake Off, which concluded this autumn and proved to be a real hit.
Judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry will be at the event to share their expertise with food lovers who flock to the NEC over the coming days.
