Head to Ljubljana for family festivities this summer

Travel insurance customers may want to take a trip to the eastern European capital of Ljubljana for a holiday this season and catch the Slovenian Summer Festival.

Running for eight weeks between July 6th and August 27th, the festival has been going in the city for more than half a century, Slovenia Tourism has said.

Included in the lineup of events is a performance of Mythical by the Italian Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company, a musical theatre performance of The Full Monty by the Croatian Zagreb Comedy Theatre and an open air cinema that will show films in the grounds of Ljubljana Castle.

Operas, classical theatre productions and a ballet to the music of Pink Floyd will also take place.

If travelling with children, they may want to visit the second city of Slovenia - Maribor - for the International Puppet Festival that will host performances with a variety of puppet styles and in a range of languages between June 20th and August 5th.

According to Lonely Planet, the best thing about the country is the people themselves.

"The typical personality is quietly conservative but deeply self-confident, broad-minded, tolerant and very friendly and hospitable," it said.
