Bookings for Florida holidays are soaring as kids persuade their parents to take them to the new Harry Potter attraction in the US state.
Bookings for holidays to Florida are on the rise thanks to the launch of the new Harry Potter theme park in the state.
This is according to figures from The Co-operative Travel, which show that package holiday bookings for the region have seen a seven per cent increase for this
summer after a drop in tourism levels last year.
It attributes this to the impending opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, a joint venture between Universal and Warner Bros based on the film versions of the popular J K Rowling books.
"We're seeing package bookings to Florida significantly outperform the overall travel market, indicating that pester-power is starting to influence family bookings," remarked Trevor Davis, director of retail distribution at The Co-operative Travel.
He added that the favourable exchange rate may also be helping to encourage bookings.
Those travelling to Florida this year may want to reduce holiday costs further by taking out cheap
travel insurance.
Some of the state's other main attractions include theme parks like Walt Disney World and SeaWorld.
