Heading to some less well-travelled cities in the US could prove great value, according to an expert.
Jetting off to a less well-travelled city in the US could provide the great value holiday that British tourists are looking for.
This is according to Stella Clery-Ackland, spokeswoman from the US Travel Association, who said arriving in Detroit, Denver or Minneapolis - which are becoming more popular - might prove a welcome change to other hotspots.
She said: "It's very nice to see that what we would consider as second and third tier destinations are experiencing such big increases [in the hotel industry]."
Her comments came in response to the STR figures that state the room occupancy level in the hospitality industry across the pond have increased by 6.7 per cent during the third quarter of this year, boosting it to 63.9 per cent.
Over the year to date, 58.9 per cent of rooms available were reserved and revenue per available room has risen to $57.70 (£36).
Ms Clery-Ackland stated the statistics show positive times ahead if they are to continue in this manner, as well as plenty of options for places to stay.
Indeed, single trip insurance policyholders looking to take Ms Clery-Ackland's advice might be interested to hear that Detroit is well-known for its musical attractions.
The Motown museum and studios are located there and many of the bars, restaurants and clubs devote themselves to the style of music.
Ms Clery-Ackland claims the metropolis is "the home of Motown", which may have attracted more explorers to its sights.
Those concerned about what they will find when they touch down might also be relieved when they see Detroit has undergone something of a regeneration in recent years.
