People may be able to get the best winter holiday deals by booking late, it has been suggested.

Timing is everything when it comes to getting the best deal on a holiday, it has been claimed.

According to advice in the Telegraph, holidaymakers will be able to get cheaper breaks if they book early.

Similarly, the time of the holiday itself will also play a part in the expense.

For example, for skiing holidays to Tignes in November, it is advised to wait until two weeks before the jaunt to ensure there is enough snow on the slopes.

January is a particularly good time for low-cost sojourns, the news provider asserted, and it is "safe to book late".

However, if people are planning on purchasing some holiday insurance and jetting off in February, they should book now so as to get the best deals.

The publication observed that it could be better not to travel in this month, since it is half-term for most schools in Europe, but March, on the other hand, could be a great month for last-minute bargains.
