Germany could be ideal for holidaymakers looking for a luxury destination with a difference, according to the country's tourist office.
Travellers looking to take a luxury holiday in Europe might want to head to Germany.
The country has much to offer when it comes to high-end breaks, particularly with offerings such as spas, river cruises and city-based holidays, according to Katrin Lukosch of the German National Tourist Office.
She explained that Berlin and Munich are particularly popular among those visiting Germany on a city break, while the various Christmas markets that run in every town in the country offer a mix of shopping and culture.
"Christmas markets are usually in very nice locations within the cities, like historic town squares in front of the cathedrals or at the riverside. They are usually at spectacular locations," Ms Lukosch remarked.
Recent research by trivago indicated that hotel prices in Berlin are currently 14 per cent cheaper compared with November 2008.
