France could be ideal for families looking for a good value destination, it is claimed.
Travel insurance policyholders looking for a holiday that is fun and good value for money should consider France.
Natalie Goulet, spokeswoman for Atout France - France Tourism Development Agency - suggests there are many areas that are already popular with British tourists.
Paris Ile de France, Provence, Rhone-Alps, Normandy and Brittany are just some of the areas cited by Ms Goulet as being traditionally common destinations for UK visitors.
Those keen to explore new ground could consider the Languedoc-Roussillon region, which is ideal for families, despite being lesser known than some of the more populated regions.
"City breaks and short breaks continue to be strong with France well positioned with its proximity and wide choice of transport options and direct links from the UK," Ms Goulet suggests.
When asked whether the country is a good-value destination, the tourism chief said it "certainly" does offer an impressive deal.
Accommodation-wise, people have a large range of options from which to choose.
Self-catering is a common choice, as this is cheaper for families, but camping could also prove an alternative, as "glamping" is increasingly popular among those visiting France, Ms Goulet notes.
Research from The Co-operative Travel, published on June 1st, suggested British holidaymakers are looking towards more traditional destinations for their breaks.
Visits to France rose by 31 per cent, while trips to Italy climbed by 15 per cent and those to Spain increased by 11 per cent.
This could be due to the value for money that European holidays offer during a time when many families are tightening the purse strings.
