The fish markets that take place each morning in Germany could prove popular among food fans.
Foodies looking for a holiday destination that offers plenty of opportunities to sample the local cuisine might find the daily markets in Hamburg appealing.
Stefanie Raudschus, new media executive at the German National Tourist Office, explained that although the annual Christmas markets are already well known, Hamburg also plays host to a daily fish souk.
She said: "If you go [to the city] you really have to go to the fish markets ... There is this one dish that doesn't look nice but is really tasty. It is called labskaus."
Meat, fish and egg are combined to create the delicacy - but those after something more recognisable can dine on fish and chips, similar to that found in British seaside towns.
For a festive trip, however, tourists may want to schedule their excursion later in the year when seven Christmas markets take over Hamburg city centre.
Ms Raudschus explained how they are "really popular among British travellers" and are arranged all over the country.
Travel insurance policyholders on the hunt for a summer holiday may also find something suitable as other markets run all year round - although one amusement attraction could suit families heading to Germany.
The Hamburger DOM is a theme park and plays host to a music festival each year - food, music and attractions combine to complete the experience.
Finding flights to the destination should not be a problem as Skyscanner recently reported that Hamburg has entered its list of the 100 most popular places on its search pages.
What's more, trivago also revealed that the average cost of a hotel room has fallen in Hamburg, costing approximately €102 (£85) during August.
