Japan is fast becoming the destination of choice for lovers of all things edible, according to one expert.
Food lovers are increasingly looking to Japan to combine a normal holiday with the ultimate gastronomy experience, it has been suggested.
Charlotte Swift, editor of Food and Travel magazine, said that the country's wide range of cuisine and eateries makes it a popular choice for food aficionados.
She explained that each region in Japan offers its own specialities that are a must-try for anyone visiting these areas, such as tempura, sushi, sukiyaki and a variety of noodle dishes.
Furthermore, Japan is home to a range of other attractions to entertain holidaymakers, Ms Swift stated.
"The country has an awe-inspiring variety of nature and rich and colourful culture, making it a fascinating destination for all sorts of visitors," she remarked.
Michelin recently announced the launch of its first guide to restaurants in Kyoto and Osaka that have received much-coveted Michelin stars.
However, those conscious of travel costs such as food, drink and
holiday insurance may instead be interested in the high number of street food stalls that are ubiquitous in Japan.
