Florida bookings 'surge' thanks to strong pound
Bookings for holidays to Florida have seen a rise as Britons take advantage of the strong pound.
According to research by Co-operative Travel, the increasing power of sterling is the reason for the 48 per cent rise in bookings to Florida for June when compared to last year.
The Daily Mail reported retail distribution manager Trevor Davis' prediction that the rise would carry on if the pound continues to gain strength on the dollar and said the reaction to changing exchange rates was "remarkable".
In May the pound was worth $1.48 but now the exchange rate is $1.65.
This shows a jump of more than 11 per cent.
