Florence is a city everyone should see once in their life, according to the city's tourist board.
The Florence Tourist Board (FTB) has said that the Italian metropolis is a must-see city for everyone at some point in their lives.
Florence, which is around two hours away from Rome by train, offers stunning culture with its breathtaking architecture and historical attractions, it claims.
Roberta Romoli, spokesperson for the FTB, said: "Florence is one of the cities that everyone should see once in their life with many reasons for coming back."
According to figures from STR Global, occupancy in the city grew by over one-fifth in the first quarter of 2010 in comparison with the same time period last year.
Tuscany's most famous city boasts incomparable artistic heritage and remains one of Europe's most desirable locations, with locations such as the Duomo, the Uffzi gallery and the Accademia which features Michaelangelo's David.
Also recommended is the city's picturesque football ground - the Stadio Artemio Franchi - which is set towards the Tuscan hills and is home to Florence's main football club, ACF Fiorentina.
Travel insurance is recommended for any trip overseas in order to protect against the cost of any lost or stolen goods.
