The
Environment Agency has been on 24-hour alert in north-west England this weekend, while flood defences were put in place in some regions to help protect residents and properties in potentially-affected areas.
Area flood risk manager Glyn Vaughan said: "We have been working closely with partners in Cumbria, including community-based flood action groups, to ensure that everyone is as prepared as possible."
Low Crosby, Appleby and Hornby were the focus of some attention, where logs were used to stop river levels rising to a dangerous level, while officials from the body were out monitoring the situation on Saturday (January 15th).
Commuters may have had their journey disrupted today as flooding has caused delays on Arriva Trains Wales services between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llandudno Junction.

National Rail to see what alternative arrangements are in place to combat the delays that are currently stretching to approximately 40 minutes.
