Ferry travel 'a more relaxing way to travel'
A holiday on a ferry this summer could offer travellers a more relaxing way to travel, a travel company has said.
Some 40 million items of luggage were lost by airlines across the world in 2006, an increase of eight million on the year before, according to figures from Irish Ferries.
"To arrive on holiday and spend further pointless hours waiting in vain at the carousel is guaranteed to raise the blood pressure ... the very opposite of what a holiday is supposed to do," explained Declan Mescall from the company.
He went on to say that travelling by ferry can avoid queues at check-in and offer holidaymakers the benefits of space to sit back and enjoy the journey in possession of all of their belongings.
Figures published by the Post Office in May revealed some nine per cent of holidaymakers were concerned their luggage would be damaged in some way when they travel.
