Travel insurance is essential for those visiting the Exit Music Festival, it is claimed.
Travel insurance is essential for those attending the Exit Music Festival in Serbia this summer, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has said.
The event will be held in Novi Sad on July 7th-10th and will feature the likes of Jamiroquai, Arcade Fire and Editors.
Individuals who hope to make the most of their experience should take out travel insurance and check that they will be covered for unexpected losses or expenses, the FCO suggests.
People using discount tickets should find this particularly useful, as it will guard against financial loss if they miss flights, for example.
It is equally essential to be covered for medical treatment and evacuation and Britons are warned the European Health Insurance Card will not be valid in Serbia.
Travel insurance documents should specify that the holder is visiting this particular country and it is important to check for any advice before setting off, the FCO notes.
Passports and valuables must all be kept in a safe place and ticket holders should beware of bag and mobile phone snatchers.
Keeping a separate record of passport details and photocopying the essential pages is a wise move.
Anyone who does lose their passport or fall victim to theft should immediately report the incident to the local police, the body adds.
Tourists visiting Serbia should never attempt to change their currency on the street, as the best option is to use official exchange offices or banks.
Finally, the FCO says anyone who is taking more than €5,000 (£4,393) should declare this is the case when they enter the country.
