The Running of the Bull can be a risky activity for those who decide to take part, the FCO warns.
Travel insurance may not be valid for those who decide to join high-risk activities associated with Spain's San Fermin Festival.
The famous Running of the Bulls is held in Pamplona on July 6th-14th and tends to draw huge crowds of visitors from all around the world.
But the
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) warns any Britons who decide to join in with the race or other risky events could find their insurance does not cover them in the event of a mishap.
"You should check the details of your insurance policy before deciding whether to participate," the body suggests.
Individuals take part in the running of the bulls each year, with a number of them being seriously injured and certain cases of fatalities.
The FCO advises weighing up the risks involved with the event and being aware of the consequences beforehand.
Local authorities have a number of arrangements for the large number of visitors in the area, such as locker facilities provided at Pamplona Town Hall.
It is a good idea to carry a copy of each traveller's passport for identification and keep the original document in a safe place, as the FCO warns there is a high incidence of petty crime and pick-pocketing at the San Fermin Festival.
The regional tourism website for Navarre advises making travel arrangements in advance of the event, as transport tends to be heavily booked during this time.
A large number of hotels, guesthouses, campsites and hostels are on offer for those seeking accommodation, but bookings should be made well in advance where possible.
