Certain parts of Thailand and Cambodia should be avoided by tourists.
The
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has changed its advice for those visiting parts of Thailand and Cambodia.
It now says tourists should avoid the Ta Krabey and Ta Moan temple area, following an outbreak of fighting in the district.
The destination is located on the border between Thailand and Cambodia, where troops are now stationed.
"We advise British nationals to exercise caution if visiting temples close to the border," the FCO notes.
It is also important to be "alert to the local situation" when moving between other border regions and the body names Ou Smach and the land crossings between the two nations as particular points to be aware of.
The latest update follows fighting between troops from both countries at Ta Krabey on April 22nd, with disputes ongoing as a result.
Britons visiting Thailand are advised to take out a comprehensive medical and travel insurance policy by the FCO.
It advises visitors to check these policies before undertaking certain activities - such as bungee jumping or hiring motorcycles and scooters - as not all providers will cover these things.
Similar guidance is offered for those heading to Cambodia and the FCO explains there are certain issues to be aware of when driving in the country.
It is necessary to gold either a Cambodian licence or international driving permit in order to get behind the wheel in the nation.
Those who do not take out such documentation could find their travel insurance is invalidated in the event of an accident, the body notes.
