Travellers keen to shed the early-autumn blues should consider going back to nature with a healthy-living break in Spain.
While the beaches of the south of Spain are perhaps better known as summer sun destinations, they are also home to a growing number of holistic holiday hotspots, allowing visitors the chance to lift their spirits at the end of the summer.
According to a new report in the Telegraph, the Alicante region is now home to "Europe's first macrobiotic retreat", which promises the chance to take a "life-changing break".
As well as being able to enjoy excellent weather and stunning coastal scenery, the SHA Wellness Clinic allows its guests to be pampered with spa treatments, healthy food and a variety of stress-busting activities, including yoga.
"They not only feed you with delicious, nutritious food a world away from the Costa Brava's more usual fish and chips they'll pamper you with spa treatments and generally top up your batteries," writer Caroline Sylger Jones explains.
"They may even change the way you eat for ever."
This healthy holiday tip comes soon after the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advised holidaymakers to take out
travel insurance before heading to Spain, particularly given that, as with the rest of Europe, the threat from swine flu still exists.
