A tourism official has said that visiting Singapore this summer could be perfect for sporty holidaymakers.
This
summer could be the ideal time for any traveller who has never visited Singapore to do so, a tourism official has stated.
According to Eunice Yeo, area director for northern and western Europe at the London branch of the Singapore Tourism Board, the Asian nation will offer holidaymakers the opportunity to be "part of sporting history" as the inaugural Youth Olympic Games take place there next month.
Between August 16th and 26th, Singapore will welcome and play host to the world's most talented sportspeople aged 14 to 18 who will compete in all 26 disciplines that are on the programme for the senior Games in London in 2012.
"In honour of this sporting highlight, Singapore will come alive with a series of events and parties to showcase the best of what the island has to offer," noted Ms Yeo.
A report released yesterday (July 20th) by the Singapore Tourism Board indicated that the nation is now entering the final stages of its preparation prior to the beginning of the prestigious competition.
The Games are expected to attract more than 500,000 people to the country throughout their duration and the International Olympic Committee wants the event to inspire youngsters across the globe to take up sport.
And reasons such as these are why it is "absolutely" a good time for tourists to head to Singapore, continued the official, who also stated that it has many other attractions to keep people who are not interested in sport entertained as well.
