It is unlikely that the recession will have a negative effect on winter sports holidays, it has been suggested.
The economic downturn will not prompt winter sports enthusiasts to give up pursuits such as skiing and snowboarding, according to one expert.
Tim Holmes, manager of the Metro Ski & Snowboard Show, said it is unlikely the recession will force fans of these sports to renounce holidays based on them.
"Most people will give up going away twice or a long holiday somewhere because [skiing] is more of a passion," he remarked.
Those looking to pack warm clothing and book
ski insurance ahead of a winter holiday may want to head to resorts in North America or Japan, as they have "great" records in terms of snow, according to Mr Holmes.
"At the same time, Europe has its own atmosphere and alpine charm," he stated.
The Ski Club of Great Britain recently released a report showing that 1.27 million people now take winter sports holidays every year, with France remaining the most popular destination for such breaks among these Britons.
