Single trip or annual travel insurance policyholders may want to explore the diverse music scene in Madrid.
Madrid's music scene has been recommended by an expert and could be ideal for single trip or annual travel insurance policyholders wondering where to head for their summer break.
Although the Spanish city is widely popular with culture vultures and fans of historic architecture, it also boasts fantastic nightlife.
This is according to the travel editor of Lonely Planet, Tom Hall, who said despite the fact Madrid is often overshadowed by Barcelona for bar and club activity, there are lots of restaurants and partying opportunities for those who want to indulge.
"It has an excellent live music scene and it's worth seeking out recommendations and listings of what's on while you're there," he added.
Mr Hall also went on to recommend that whether visitors to the city are sports fans or not, taking a tour of Real Madrid's stadium and museum is "one of the best things you can do in Europe" because all of the club's heritage and trophies are on display. People can really get an idea of the club's stature this way, he concluded.
Last month, Madrid welcomed a total of 732,709 visitors, according to the city's official tourism board. This was the highest monthly figure in its history. During April and May, it witnessed year-on-year growth of 11 per cent and 12.6 per cent respectively.
The organisation said art exhibits scheduled for this summer, such as Turner and the Masters at the Prado Museum, are likely to attract even bigger numbers.
