Florida is not just about theme parks, an expert has said.
Families taking out travel insurance policies are likely to associate a trip to Florida as an all-action holiday that involves very little rest and relaxation.
After all, the Sunshine State is most famous for the vast array of theme parks and active adventure excursions, such as Disneyland, Universal Studios and Busch Gardens.
With this in mind, many people may be put off heading across the Atlantic to the American peninsula due to the expectation that it will be a hectic and stressful holiday full of queues with no time to chill out.
However, this need not be the case, as one expert has insisted that Florida can also provide the ideal destination for any family more interested in a relaxed trip away from the hustle and bustle of big cities like Orlando or Miami.
According to Jo Eckersley, UK public relations representative for the Central Florida Visitors & Convention Bureau, the central region of the state offers the perfect place for people who love the great outdoors to take a holiday.
Indeed, Ms Eckersley suggested this area is something of a mixture of all the best bits of Florida, as it combines tropical weather with stunning natural beauty.
"We've got 554 natural freshwater lakes, and they occupy about 135 square miles. It's a bit like a giant equivalent of the UK's Lake District, but with a great sunny climate most of the year," she noted.
One event that may attract holiday insurance holders to make the journey to Florida is the Polk NatureFest 2011 in Polk County, which includes an array of activities that showcase the region and takes place between October 6th and 9th.
