Berlin is growing in popularity as a city break destination, it has been suggested.
Holidaymakers are increasingly looking to Berlin as the ideal city break destination, an expert has revealed.
According to Jonathan Cudworth of Expedia, the German capital is always a hit with travellers as it "is a western European city but with eastern European prices".
He explained that Berlin - together with certain other European locations - is rising in the minds of holidaymakers looking to make their money go further.
"It's a city that seems to be very popular, along with other eastern European cities like Riga in Latvia and Tallinn in Estonia," Mr Cudworth remarked.
Travellers who are already cutting back on holiday costs - such as by searching for cheap
single trip insurance - may be interested in recent research from Hotels.com suggesting that European hotel rates fell by 16 per cent in the second quarter of 2009.
This compares with falls of ten and 15 per cent for the fourth quarter of 2008 and the first three months of this year respectively.
