There are plenty of markets across Europe to choose from
Europe's Christmas markets could be ideal for those taking out single trip insurance who want to experience a truly festive atmosphere.
According to Clare Peel, new development editor at Berlitz Publishing, there are plenty of cities across the continent that offer something special at this time of year.

Many of the offerings are based around a traditional Germanic yuletide theme, the expert continues, so to get an authentic experience it might be worth heading to Cologne or Vienna, or perhaps Prague, which is ideal for families.
Those who love to sample various types of cuisine during their holiday should head to Brussels, where there will be delicious food to try and an ice-skating rink for the more active traveller.
Individuals who appreciate tradition but like something a bit more unusual might find Barcelona's Fira de Santa Llucia market is well worth a visit.
Ms Peel explains this fair was first introduced in 1786 and there are hundreds of stalls where it is possible to purchase local produce, jewellery, Catalan musical instruments and nativity scenes.
But the UK also has plenty to offer, with the Cologne Christmas market on London's Southbank and the Christkindelmarkt in Leeds both proving to be good competition for their European counterparts.
Recent research from Santander Cards found some £21.5 billion has been spent by British adults heading away for weekend breaks over the past 12 months.
Those who want to fit in another weekend trip before the end of the year could find a Christmas market break is the ideal way to do so.
