Tourists visiting Germany might agree that it is "surprisingly affordable".
Tourists visiting Germany might find favour with one expert's opinion that the country is "surprisingly affordable" when compared with its neighbouring nations.
Wibke Carter, from the German National Tourism Office, said that many people have been seen to combine a long weekend away with a music festival or similar event.
Beer and food also come recommended and the capital city of Berlin could be popular with anyone looking to experience some culture.
Press officer, Ms Carter pointed out: "[Berlin] is quite famous for its museums and architecture and there is the reopening of the Neues Museum ... Then there are the little quirky things like the Strand-Cafes which are little bars on the river and by the beach."
The UK architect David Chipperfield has been "quite involved" with the revamp of the Neues Museum, the expert continued.
What's more, historically-minded tourists could schedule a stop at arguably one of the city's most famous landmarks, the Berlin Wall. Street art and graffiti covers much of what remains of the brickwork after its destruction in 1989.
Music fans might want to time their trip to coincide with the Berlin Festival which runs on September 10th and 11th - this year's line-up includes Fatboy Slim, 2manydjs and LCD Soundsystem.
Affordable travel options have encouraged holidaymakers to spend more time abroad and Germany in particular is very cheap compared with its neighbours of Paris or London, Ms Carter concluded.
Last year, 1,749,663 British tourists who took a trip overseas last year chose to visit Germany, according to the Statistisches Bundesamt Deutschland.
Anyone looking for an affordable trip to Europe should investigate their
travel insurance options available before leaving the UK.
