Europe is the perfect place to enjoy a short holiday.
Europe could be the perfect place to head to for those who want to get away for a short break.
Debbie Goffin, head of sales and marketing at Premier Holidays, suggested many people have been persuaded to holiday closer to home over the past year.
This could result in a boost in the number of people taking short breaks on the continent and Ms Goffin recommended them as they offer travellers the chance to experience a new city over the course of a few days.
She explained that for this reason, short breaks are the "perfect alternative" to a long-haul destination.
Ms Goffin stated that there are a wide range of reasons why Europe could be a great place to go on holiday, such as the fact it boasts beautiful beaches and lots of activities.
"Spain is always a popular summer destination choice for holidaymakers," she said.
"Visitors can soak up the cultural delights of 'El Grec', the most famous and most popular festival of Barcelona, which takes place from the end of June."
The travel expert added that the number of bank holidays people in the UK are getting this year - which has been boosted by events such as the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton - has already seen a rise in bookings for short breaks on the continent.
According to Green Flag, driving rather than flying can be a good way to save a bit of cash when going on holiday.
The firm added that a break to Barcelona could cost a family of four around £1,000 in flights, while the price of driving to the Spanish city could be about half as much.
