An additional bank holiday in April could provide the ideal opportunity to take advantage of "lovely" weather in Europe.
The announcement that there will be an additional bank holiday on April 29th 2011 could provide the ideal opportunity for people to jet off on a spring break and one expert has suggested staying in Europe could prove favourable.
Number 10 has revealed the date will be a "happy and momentous" celebration of Prince William's marriage to Kate Middleton and will be marked by the holiday, which precedes the early May bank holiday that falls on the 2nd next year.
Staying within the continent could see some adventurers experiencing "lovely" weather and plenty of sightseeing opportunities, according to Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet.
He added: "First and foremost - it will be warm, but not too warm, it will be spring everywhere and you will have early summer temperatures ... there [is likely to be] a fantastic European venue you haven't been to."
Cairo in Egypt, Morocco or Istanbul, the capital of Turkey, could all be great options for those looking for some sunshine, before the mercury soars later in the year.
However, he also recommended some destinations a little further afield, such as Cuba in the Caribbean - Mr Hall stated the earlier months are "absolutely lovely" in the central American region.
Single trip insurance policyholders that want to stretch their horizons even further might want to take the expert's advice and see Columbia or Panama, as they have been outlined in the organisation's Best in Travel books for 2011 and provide a safe, cost-effective location with plenty to keep tourists entertained.
Mr Hall explained that there are "really interesting different places" to explore in both areas - and they have had "a buzz about them for a while".
