New York City could be the mecca for jazz fans thanks to its many venues.
Jazz fans could begin planning their holiday insurance before they head to New York City to uncover the best places to see the cream of today's music talent.
According to Time Out, the city is host to many famous venues who have played a part in the histories of some of jazz's biggest names, such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Bill Evans and many still provide a platform for the artform.
A trip to the West Village could include a concert at the Village Vanguard, which has a small stage that has been graced by big stars, most recently Joe Lovano, Paul Motian and Lou Donaldson.
Close to Lexington Avenue is Jazz Standard, a smoky den below the Blue Smoke barbecue restaurant which has an excellent sound system to cope with the most mindblowing sax solos.
Greenwich Village is home to Blue Note, which describes itself as the "jazz capital of the world", hosting both legends of the genre and upcoming talent and is always good for a Sunday brunch and an enthusiastic crowd, the magazine said.
Those looking less for a rendition of Summertime than sunshine on their US visit could consider Tampa Bay in Florida.
According to James Litston, UK representative at Tampa Bay & Company, the area has "year-round sunshine" to offer, as well as a variety of beaches on which to enjoy the favourable climes.
