Rhodes has plenty to see for all tastes, with a summer of festivals lined up.
Tourists are being encouraged to participate in one of the many festivals being held on the Greek Island of Rhodes during the summer months.
With a vast array of events to chose from, there is sure to be something for everybody in this popular destination.
The season kicks off with the International Medieval Rose Festival throughout May and June, where locals recreate the period between 1306 and 1522 when the island's administration was controlled by the Knights of St John.
Medieval dress, customs and legends will be on display in various locations, as well as fairs being held in the Medieval Town, Moat of Rhodes, Monolithos and Kritinia.
Music lovers might like to stick around for the Rhodes Rock event on June 8th-15th, where tribute bands will play hits from the likes of Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix.
If food is more appealing, the Watermelon Festival on July 18th could be a must, with the Apolakkia Dam hosting competitions for the largest and heaviest types of this famous foodstuff.
Expertly-carved sculptures will be on display, while there will be plenty of watermelons handed out for visitors to sample.
Travel insurance policyholders keen to witness a more bizarre activity should head to the Donkey Racing and Agios soulas Festival on July 29th and 40th, with thousands of locals turning out to bet on their favourite for the day.
Plenty of culture can also be found in the vibrant Medieval Town, which has been declared a Unesco World Heritage site.
