Eltham Palace an 'overlooked London attraction'
Eltham Palace in Greenwich is well worth a visit and should not have been left off Boris Johnson's recently published Only in London 100 list, it has been suggested.
Blogger Diamond Geezer selected the English Heritage-owned medieval mansion as one of five sights to be "cruelly overlooked" by the list in an article for the Guardian newspaper.
"This is an extraordinary house with an intricate surprise around every corner," he wrote.
"From the ornamental moat to the gold-tiled en-suite, the entire building reeks of cultured decadence."
Other snubbed locations listed by the Guardian include legendary boxing venue York Hall in Bethnal Green, the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge near Epping Forest, renowned breakfast diner Nico's - also in Bethnal Green - and the site where the 2012 Olympic stadium will be built.
