Britons are still heading to Egypt, despite mounting concerns about civil unrest in the country.
The attractions of Egypt appear to be compelling for British travel insurance policyholders, despite the fact that concerns over civil unrest in the country are growing.
Neil Garner of the Monarch Travel Group noted November figures indicate that Britons are "still flocking to the Red Sea", while Russians and other Europeans are being more wary about making their way to this part of the world, the Daily Express reports.
"Flights to Sharm have been 97 per cent full," he went on to say.
Similar comments came from director of the Egyptian Tourist Office for the UK and Ireland Khaled Rami, who noted that the majority of Egypt is safe to travel to, likening the situation in the country to the riots that took place in London earlier this year.
"If you look at Tahrir Square you would think all of Egypt is burning, but only in the way that anybody outside of the UK who saw footage of the August riots would think all the UK was burning," he remarked.
Earlier this week (November 26th), tens of thousands of protestors gathered in Cairo to demand that military leaders step down after it was announced that prime minister Kamal Ganzouri had been temporarily reinstated.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has not warned people off travelling to Egypt but has urged Brits to steer clear of Cairo, since tension is mounting in the city.
Since 18th November, there have been violent confrontations between demonstrators and security forces in the downtown part of Cairo and Tahrir Square, with reports incoming of dangerous forms of gas being used, as well as live ammunition, against protestors.
