Those looking for a chance to see what the Emerald Isle has to offer will not be disappointed.
Holidaymakers will be increasingly looking closer to home when they are thinking about booking their destination for this summer, according to a report recently released by the Association of British Travel Agents.
It says that many people affected by the continued tightening of their belts financially, will look to use their travel insurance in new places which offer them the chance to get out and partake in activities or get stuff done, as opposed to just sitting around the side of a pool.
For those on a budget then, one of the best places to visit in 2012 could be Ireland, and more specifically Dublin. Flights to Ireland from the UK mainland are always reasonably cheap, and those looking to save that little bit extra can even take the ferry. And Ireland always has much to offer those who choose to visit.
According to John Lahiffe, publicity manager at Tourism Ireland, the architecture and design of the capital city, Dublin, will leave many people in awe, due to its picturesque Georgian stylings and its modern culture.
He said that many holidaymakers can take relief from the fact that the country had a realisation that it should be embracing this kind of architecture as opposed to knocking it down, a project which had been started in the 1950s.
"They've kept most of the old Georgian squares and there are a number of houses that are open. Around the Fitzwilliam and Merrion Squares, in the south centre of the city, there are buildings one can go into to appreciate what the Georgian lifestyle was like," Mr Lahiffe said.
Those who choose to visit Ireland can revel in the majesty of the architecture of the city, knowing that it has also recently been shortlisted for the position of World Design Capital for 2014.
