It is unsurprising that Dubai has been named a top winter sun destination, according to one expert.
The results of a recent study rating Dubai as the best winter sun destination for 2009 are unsurprising, an expert has said.
Flight Centre's research saw the Middle Eastern emirate rank ahead of the likes of Thailand, Egypt, Antigua and Australia.
According to Dan Linstead of Wanderlust magazine, travelling to Dubai is one of the cheapest and easiest ways of getting a dose of sunshine during the winter months.
"It's obviously been growing in popularity hugely over the past five, six, seven years ... if you're after a beach or a luxury hotel, Dubai probably ticks those boxes pretty successfully," he remarked.
Dubai offers unique activities such as desert safaris and the chance to attend its famous camel racing events - although travellers may want to pick up some
holiday insurance before indulging in more active pursuits.
These may include golf and watersports including swimming, diving, sailing, fishing and windsurfing.
