New Year's Eve could be well spent in Australia, according to the country's tourist board.
Travel insurance is essential for all trips and therefore spending New Year's Eve abroad should go hand-in-hand with the right cover.
With this in mind, Tourism Australia has made some suggestions as to where the best places are Down Under to spend December 31st.
Cockatoo Island camping in Sydney Harbour is reportedly going to be the "hottest ticket" this new year, as it includes a front-row view of the midnight fireworks as well as a waterside barbecue.
The area is also set to feature a light parade and family fireworks at 21:00 local time.
Meanwhile, the Falls were also recommended for those who crave something a bit more laidback. Described by the tourism board as a "music and art - lover's getaway", it is held in two locations - Marion Bay on the east coast of Tasmania and Lorne in Victoria.
Cheaper options are nearly always available at the beach, the organisation remarked. Low-key yet intimate and fun, packing up a picnic and sitting on the sand is "undoubtedly Aussie".
